FRIDAY, JULY 8th, 2011 - "What we learn from history is that people don't learn from history!" Warren Buffet

MISSION CAPSULES: Our gifts to Presbyterian Sharing ... support inner-city ministries like Tyndale St. Georges Community Centre in Montreal, Quebec. Tyndale's Breakfast Club provides a nutritious and affordable breakfast - just a dollar a day - for children attending the ministry's summer day camp program. The program provides nourishment while also promoting good nutritious food choices for children who were arriving for a long day of physical outdoor activities without the benefit of a good breakfast. The breakfast club also gives senior volunteers the opportunity to make a positive contribution to the ministry's work. Let us pray for Tyndale as it brings together children, staff, volunteers, churches and community members in a meaningful way.

FYI - The Dance Camp began on Monday this week and will continue through to July 15th. After that we are seriously looking for volunteers to help paint the back entrance - walls, doors, baseboards and floor. Speak to Will Greenley, Jay Stryker, Henriette deKloet or myself.

AND - Lori Gemmell, who plays pedal harp and Sharlene Wallace who plays Celtic harp held their fund raising concert at Beaches last night. To say the least, it was wonderful. They are trying to raise money to get them to Vancouver for The World Harp Congress - this is the first time it has been held in Canada and includes harpists from all over the world. Lori and Sharlene have to pay their own hotel and travel - and at this point, I am not sure if they raised enough. It is very exciting.

Other than that, I've got nothing!!!

Except for this - "A paraprosdokian sentence consists of two parts where the first is a figure of speech and the second an intriguing variation of the first. They are used typically for humorous or dramatic effect.

- Never argue with an idiot. He'll drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.

- Going to church does not make you a Christian any more than standing in a garage makes you a car.

- The last thing I want to do is hurt you. But, it's still on the list.

- If I agreed with you we'd both be wrong!

- We never really grow up; we only learn how to act in public.

- Knowledge is knowing a tomato is a fruit; wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad.

Have a good week - I will be sitting by a beatiful Ontario lake. MB
