MISSION CAPSULE: In Malawi, 20 year old Layton had been engaging in unsafe sexual behaviours. Several of Layton’s friends attended PWS&D’s supported youth clubs where they would get together and discuss how to achieve a world without AIDS. His friends warned him about the consequences of his actions and shared information they learned at the youth club. Layton never thought to attend these meetings until one day when his friends persuaded him to get an HIV test. Anxious about the results – which eventually came back negative – Layton knew he needed to change his life. Deciding to join the youth club himself, he reflected, “I think my friends from youth club saved my life. I joined them so that we can save many from such behaviours.”

NOTE: Our new tenants for the church basement are making great progress in preparing to move in during the month of December. There are still one or two things that we at Beaches need to do to clear out some of the space. In the old kitchen, in the basement, there is some old furniture in it. (two bookcases, a rocking chair, a desk are the main items.) They were donated many years ago as potential furniture for our refugee family, but are not in great shape and surplus to requirements. I would like to carry them out to the street and leave them there for scavengers to pick up, but need help. Each item feels like it would take just a couple of people to lift. On the current schedule it would be good to have these items moved out by the end of next week. If anyone thinks that they can assist with this, please contact me with your availability over next week. This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . If we had four people I think it could all be done in under an hour. Thanks.
