MISSION CAPSULES: Our gifts to Presbyterians Sharing ... support Elleana Hoekstra, a young adult intern who is working as a midwife with the Mulanje Mission Hospital in southern Malawi. She is using the experience she developed during a six week placement at an urban hospital in Tanzania and providing crisis response care to women in Jamel, Haiti following last year's devastating earthquake. Both of these experiences gave her an intimate perspective on the immense need for excellent maternity care in developing countries. Elleana writes, " I am very excited about this privilege to live and work with the people of Malawi as well as to help bring the newest generation of Malawians into this amazing world."
