MISSION CAPSULES: Witness Ngofi used to have no trouble harvesting enough food for her family in Malawi. But periods of erratic, unpredictable weather have made it increasingly difficult for her to protect her crops. When Witness heard that a PWS&D supported conservation agriculture program was starting in her village, she signed up right away. Conservation agriculture is a system of farming that helps revitalize the soil and increase yields. The process was challenging at first - the methods strayed from traditional farming and prompted discouraging remarks from other farmers. But despite having little rain, Witness's crop of maize was soon thriving. As her plot continued to flourish she became a role model for other farmers determined to overcome hunger for the long-term.

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 2nd, 2016 - 3:00 - 5:00 - "Free Open Choral Rehearsal" Love to sing? Drop in and sing with the Toronto Beach Chorale and participate in Canada's Culture Days celebrations. Experience the joy of vocal music with the TBC, a concert choir rehearsing and performing in the Beach and the East End. Enjoy a behind-the-scenes glimpse into how choral music is rehearsed and practise a few vocal techniques as a member of the audience. Mervin Fick, Artistic Director & Conductor, will guide us through a lively, open working rehearsal, culminating in a short performance of a piece from our 2016-17 concert season.

What disease did cured ham actually have?

How is it that we put a man on the moon before we figured out it would be a good idea to put wheels on luggage?

Why is it that people say they 'slept like a baby' when babies wake up every two hours?

Why are you 'in' a movie, but you're 'on' TV?

Why do toasters always have a setting that burns the toast to a horrible crisp, that no decent human being would want to eat?

That's it for me - have a good week MB
