MISSION CAPSULES: March 8th is International Women's Day - Simiona, Santa, Isaura and Leona are Maya-Mam women living in Guatemala. Unfortunately, like many other indigenous women striving to provide for their families they are faced with descrimination, unequal treatment and the unrelenting cycle of poverty. Through the local PWS&D supported group called United for Development, however, their lives have been transformed. They are learning how to properly raise livestock, produce organic fertilizers and diversify crops to increase their yields. After receiving training in small business development, they are also empowered to use their household income to support their families and community. Through the program, women are inspired to claim their rights to make a positive difference in their lives and in the lives of those around them.

REFUGEES: We still don't have any more information about exactly when the family we are sponsoring will arrive. We were told it would be late February or early March - that means, any day now. It's time for us to move to the next phase of our preparations. We have a furnished apartment ready but it will only be available for a month. Below is a link to a shared document that lists the basic furnishings that we will need to set them up. Please have a look and see whether you can contribute any of these items and if so, sign in.

OR come to church and sign the form in person.

I didn't like my beard at first. Then it grew on me.

Did you hear about the cross-eyed teacher who lost her job because she couldn't control her pupils?

Broken pencils are pointless.

What do you call a dinosaur with an extensive vocabulary? A thesaurus!

I dropped out of communism class because of lousy Marx.

I got a job at a bakery because I kneaded dough.

Don't worry about old age; it doesn't last!

Have a good week - MB
