MISSION CAPSULES: Subsistence farmers in Africa, Asia and Latin America make up more than 70% of the world's hungry. While Canada has a good track record for supporting agriculture in it's aid programs, the aid budget for agricultural development has been on the decline. Good Soil is an ongoing campaign of Canadian Foodgrains Bank that aims to strengthen government funding for small-scale agriculture. Increased funding will not only help farmers improve their yields and adapt to changes in climate, it will stimulate economic growth, improve opportunities for women, enhance vital nutrition for children and promote environmental sustainably. PWS&D is working toward a world without hunger.

NOTICE from the Refugee Team:

We have been given a Syrian Family's file from the national offices of the Presbyterian Church, and we have agreed to sponsor this family. The father is 28 years old, the mother is 22 years old and they have a three year old boy. They are currently living in Turkey. Their expected arrival date is unclear, but will very likely be in three to eight weeks.

GREAT TRUTHS ABOUT GROWING OLD:

Growing old is mandatory; growing up is optional ...

Forget the health food - I need all the preservatives I can get....

When you fall down, you wonder what else you can do while you're down there ...

You are getting old when you get the same sensation from a rocking chair that you once got from a roller coaster....

Wisdom comes with age, but sometimes age comes alone...

Happy New Year - have a good week - keep warm MB
