TUESDAY, JUNE 30th, 2015 - "Peace is not something you wish for. It's something you make, something you do, something you are, something you give away" Mother Theresa

IMPORTANT NOTICE: On behalf of Session, I am writing to inform you that Beaches Presbyterian Church has a new Minister of Word and Sacrament, Rev. Rafael Vallejo. As you are aware, we have been conducting a negotiation with Queen Street East on a Memoradum of Understanding for a two point charge. As well, we have approved a call to Rafael Vallejo to be our minister, on a part-time basis. Given that Queen Street East is hesitant to commit to a permanent Memorandum of Understanding, Session agreed that we would go to Presbytery with the following motion.

"That the Reverend Rafael Vallejo be appointed minister of Beaches Presbyterian Church on a half time basis effective July 1st, 2015 through to the date of the meeting of the Presbytery of East Toronto in October 2015 and that the Reverend Wes Denyer continue on as Interim Moderator to determine the terms of the call of the Reverend Rafael Vallejo to Beaches Presbyterian Church."

We have a written commitment from Rafael to lead our services from 10:00 am and be present for no less than one hour from our start time.

We recognise that there are differences in details from what was agreed at our congregational meeting when we called Rafael. As such, we have undertaken to revise some of the details of the call (i.e. the time commitment, salary and associated financial items) and come back to the congregation for approval of these revisions. Hence, during this interim period, Rafael will be paid at the same rate as he is presently being paid at Queen Street East and he will lead in worship and moderate Session meetings. Wes will continue to work with the Session, the Finance Committee and the Congregation to modify the call as appropriate. We will then return to Presbytery in October to finalise matters.

The motion was approved as presented. Rafael will be with us this coming Sunday, July 5th when we start our service at 10:00 am. Please join me in welcoming Rafael to Beaches as our new minister of Word and Sacrament. Michael Brett, Clerk

WEDNESDAY, JULY 1st, 2015 - HAPPY CANADA DAY

SUNDAY, JULY 5th, 2015 - Join us for morning worship at our summer hours of 10:00 am - Rev. Rafael Vallejo leading.

MISSION CAPSULES: Mission trips engage participants in meaningful mission as they meet our international and Canadian Partners and learn about work that is supported by Presbyterians Sharing and PWS&D. Murray MacCausland recently accompanied young adults to Eastern Europe as an adult advisor for Youth in Mission. He shares, "We often read about "faith in action" but don't always see it. It was a real eye-opener to see how central faith and the church were in the communities we visited on our trip. What we witnessed through David Pandy's PCC supported ministry is the real kind of faith in action. From a new school for young Roma children to an orphanage for young girls, the work that our partners in Ukraine are doing is really an example of practicing Christianity as well as preaching."
