Update from our Clerk - Michael Brett - As part of a progress report regarding the Memorandum of Understanding with Queen Street East Presbyterian (QSE). Generally, the changes are additions, such as more language around termination of the agreement, stipulating the day Rafael will be at QSE and a mechanism around time keeping for the Minister. QSE did also express a desire to have a separate Good Friday service. The biggest change was to move the start time of QSE services to 11:00 am in order to accommodate some of their particular needs. Our Session has agreed. What that will mean in practice is that Rafael will leave Beaches prior to the end of our service, so an Elder will conduct the final blessing etc so as to allow Rafael time to travel to QSE.

QSE will vote on the Memorandum of Understanding at a Congregational meeting on Sunday, June 7th, so all being well, we will be able to move forward together following the Presbytery meeting on June 16th.

We will be communicating more information, such as when the new arrangement will formally start once we have the details ironed out. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact me or your elder. Paper copies of the revised Memorandum of Understanding will continue to be available in the narthex.

MISSION CAPSULES: This Sunday, Presbyterians from across Canada are gathering in Vancouver, BC for our annual General Assembly. Tristan Gerrie, a young adult representative at last year's Assembly, shares, "I felt the Spirit amongst us during our worship services, heard of God's work around the world through our ecumenical speakers and felt the warm embrace of fellowship amongst my brothers and sisters in the church. I am grateful for this opportujity to have been involved." This year, under the theme Imagining the Kingdom commissioners will once again come together to discuss policy, approve budgets, share stories from their ministries and dream for the future.

SATURDAY, JUNE 13th, 2015 - 8:30 - Tom Allen & Joey Wrigt perform at the Soulpepper Cabaret.

Strange Behaviour

I handed the teller at my bank a withdrawal slip for $400.00 and said, "May I have large bills please?" She looked at me and said, "I'm sorry, all the bills are the same size."

When we arrived at a Ford dealership to pick up our car, we were told that keys had been locked in it. We went to the srvice department to find a mechanic working feverishly to unlock the driver side door. As I watched, from the passenger side, I instinctively tried the door handle and discovered that it was unlocked. "Hey," I announced to the mechanic, "it's open" His reply, "I know, I already got that side".

I was at the airport, checking in at the gate when an airport employee asked, "has anyone put anything in your baggage without your knowledge?" To which I replied, "If it was without my knowledge, how would I know?" He smiled knowlingly and nodded, "That's why we ask"

My daughter and I went through the McDonald's take-out window and I gave the clerk a $5:00 bill. Our total was $4:25 so I also handed her a quarter. She said, "you gave me too much money" I said, "Yes I know, but this way you can just give me a dollar back". She sighed and went to get the manager, who asked me to repeat my request. I did so, and he handed me back the quarter, and said, "We're sorry but we could not do that kind of thing". The clerk then proceeded to give me back $1.00 and 75 cents in change!!

Have a good week - MB
