MISSION CAPSULES: Our gifts to Presbyterians Sharing ... support specialized ministries like North Park Presbyterian Church's Spanish Ministry in Toronto. This multicultural congregation serves an immigrant community, some of whom are refugee claimants who will eventually be sent back to their home countries. North Park's outreach includes a program for new immigrants and refugees and an after-school tutoring and sports program for youth. It also offers settlement workshops to help people understand the Canadian school system and Canadian society, and to teach them about programs and services that are available to them. As a result of this ministry, many of those who do return to their home countries are doing so with a new Gospel-centered approach to their lives. Rev. Elias Morales shares what a father of three said, "Now I am prepared to live"!

GUESS WHOSE COMING TO DINNER? YOU ARE!
Last Sunday I gave out the incorrect dates - no excuses - the correct dates are Saturday, February 26th and Saturday, March 5th, 2011. Dinner time is 6:00pm. The cost is $20.00 per person. We have already signed up four people who are prepared to serve wonderful dinners. So, now we need people to turn up and eat these wonderful dinners. This is a great opportunity to get to know some people that you don't usually get to talk to and share a good meal at the same time.

FYI - "SHOW KIDS YOU CARE" is a national network of breakfast clubs, lunch programs and snack programs that help feed 130,000 children living in poverty in Canada. (over 1.1 million kids live in poverty in Canada). Kids who are poor are often hungry - chronically hungry. They simply don't get enough food at home. In fact, some kids live in homes where there is no food at all. Jill McKinney and Kristy Taylor have been working since 1997 to make sure kids have enough food to eat. Their little office is on Queen Street and is filled with volunteers and the two of them - if you would like to volunteer there are all sorts of jobs to be done -sending letters, making phone calls, updating data etc. Next time you are walking west along Queen check out their banner "Show Kids you Care" . This is one way our church members are "the hands and the feet" of Jesus. check out their website www.showkidsyoucare.org

COMING UP - BEACHES ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING. FEBRUARY 13th, 2011.

The Final Say: The Washington Post's Mensa Invitational once again invited readers to take any word from the dictionary, alter it by adding, subtracting or changing one letter and supply a new definition.

- Cashtration (n): - The act of buying a house, which renders the subject financially impotent for an indefinite period of time.

- Reintarnation: - Coming back to life as a hillbilly.

-Intaxication: - Euphoria at getting a tax refund, which lasts until you realize it was your money to start with.

- Giraffiti: - Vandalism spray-painted very, very high.

- Sarchasm: - The gulf between the author of sarcastic wit and the person who doesn't get it.

- Decafalon - The grueling event of getting through the day consuming only things that are good for you.

Have a good week - MB
