MISSION CAPSULES: Presbyterians Sharing ... supports the Rev. Todd Statham as he serves at Zomba Theological College in Malawi. Recently Todd visited Mikuyu Prison with students and staff from the college. With a small grant from Presbyterians Sharing ... they were able to bring the prisoners gifts of soap, sugar and even a few goats for their meals. Todd shares that the officer in charge of the prison was full of gratitude to the College and the PCC. As the prisoners cheered and clapped, she mentioned that funds are so scarce that their one meal a day is often missed. She also made a point that struck Todd: "Don't look too hard in judgment on these boys, for maybe the next Nelson Mandela is among them."

WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 25th, 2013 - CHRISTMAS DAY - celebrate, pray, be of good hope, remember "in the beginning was the word".

LOOK FORWARD TO: The Beaches After Church Study Group will resume in January.

NOTE: In going through some of Arlene Scuka's papers, I found a bulletin from a service at Beaches dated March 14th, 1976. They were celebrating an anniversary and the following was included. I thought it particularly timely.

"At this time in 1926 the congregation, meeting in Williamson Road School, was looking forward to obtaining it's own Church building. In November 1925, Mr. Alan C. Thompson had deposited $100.00 of his own money for land in the Scarboro Beach Park subdivision. In February 1926, the purchase was completed, and our Church site was secured at a cost of $14,000.00." (The Church "site" included the entire block Queen Street to Avion, Avion to MacLean, Avion to Queen and along Queen to Glen Manor).

Merry Christmas everyone - I will be away until some time in January.
