MISSION CAPSULES: October 16th is World Food Day - a day to raise public awareness of world food production and the struggle against hunger, malnutrition and poverty. 870 million people worldwide suffer from chronic hunger. PWS&D are working to end hunger by providing food in times of emergency and by helping smallscale farmers increase their crop yields. After devastating floods in 2012, thousands of families in Pakistan were desperate for food supplies. In partnership with Canadian Foodgrains Bank, PWS&D provided 4,000 families with food rations, seeds and training in disaster plan management. With this support families were able to get by until the harvest. To learn more about how you can help end hunger, visit WeRespond.ca
