MISSION CAPSULES: Our gifts to Presbyterians Sharing ... support Dr. David Pandy-Szekeres as he serves with the Reformed Church of Sub-Carpathian Ukraine (RCCU). David co-ordinates four Christian secondary schools and helps to post and supervise RCCU missionaries serving communities in Ukraine. A special class run by RCCU missionaries for Roma children in the village of Nagybereg has been a great success. Nine students who went through the first session passed their final exams and were enrolled in regular classes. A multifunctional building which will serve as a prayer hall and kindergarten is being constructed to serve this Roma community.

FOR YOUR INFORMATION: At a recent meeting of Session, it was discerned that our Church was in a position to call new Elders from among our worshiping community to join in the leadership of our congregation. Any Communicant member of Beaches Presbyterian Church is eligible to serve as an Elder. On Sunday, November 18th the nomination process will begin. Our Clerk of Session, Michael Brett, will ensure that all Communicant Members have a list of eligible Communicant Members who may be nominated.

This time of discernment will take place during the season of Advent; a time when the whole Church makes a special effort to be still, patient, and attentive to the quiet leadership of the Holy Spirit. The nominations will be received and reviewed by the Session and our Elders, who will then speak with those who have been nominated to aid them in their own personal discernment. The lists must be returned to the church office by Sunday, December 2nd (the first Sunday of Advent). You may certainly vote for more than one person on the list.

If you are not yet a Communicant member, this may be the right time for you to follow God's call into that special role by making a public profession of faith. That involves taking your baptismal vows upon yourself at a time after the sermon during a Sunday service. It is a response to the Word of God. If you feel that this is the right time to become a Communicant member of the Church (in order that you may vote in this important process and/or be eligible for election), please speak to Matt who will be happy to help. Only Communicant members may vote in matters of Church business and be eligible for the office of elder.

Is there a call in this for you? This is a wonderful time for us all to listen for God's leadership and energy among us.

AND FROM THE CHILDREN:

Dear God - If you let the dinasor not exstinct we would not have a country. You did the right thing. Jonathan

Dear God - Thank you for the baby brother but what I prayed for was a puppy. Joyce
