FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 24th, 2012 - LIFF - The Lent International Film Festival 2012 - "Beauty is the transfiguration of life through love". Join us at 7:00 pm for the first film in the Lenten series. "Run Fatboy Run" 2007 - a comedy, starring Simon Pegg, Thandie Newton, Hank Azaria and Dylan Moran. Five years after leaving his pregnant fiancee at the altar, out of shape commitment-phobe, Dennis enters a marathan to win her back. Can Dennis face the past, be transformed and ultimately arrive at the finish line?

SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 25th, 2012 - 7:30 pm - Presbyterian Music Camp Fundraising Concert at Beaches Presbyterian Church. This concert is to raise money for people who need financial assistance in order to attend music camp. The lineup is wonderfull and promises to be a great evening. Our own Lori Gemmell and Tom Allen will be among the performers, as well as Tom's son Wesley.

SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 26th, 2012 - join us for morning worship, first Sunday of Lent, at 10.30 - Rev. Matt McKay leading.

MISSION CAPSULES: Our gifts to Presbyterians Sharing ... support the Rev. Dr. Paul McLean as he works with a Bible translation team in Taiwan to translate the Bible into the Hakka language. They are working to finish the complete translation by 2012, when the Presbyterian Church in Taiwan celebrates "The Year of Hakka Mission". Paul says, "since this is all God's work, we pray that the Lord will help us achieve this very worthy goal." Let us pray that the newly translated Bible will be a guiding light for Hakka Christians in Taiwan.

NOTICE: Most of you know that we have agreed to share our church building with another congregation beginning in April. As part of their proposal they offered to paint our back entrance. Five people showed up last Friday evening and next time you are at church, have a look to see the transformation. This work will continue for a few more weeks but already it looks great. All those pennies paid off.

COMING UP: The letter to the Hebrews is the topic of ten ecumenical Bible Study sessions on Mondays from March 5th to May 14th, 2012 from 9:30 - 11:30 am at St. John the Baptist Norway Anglican Church at Kingston Road and Woodbine. Fee is $30.00 for all sessions. For information call 416-694-5969.

SATURDAY, MARCH 24th, 2012 - Beaches Women's Day Away is confirmed. We will be led by Lynda Marshal and the theme for the day is "Who is God - Really?" Jesus called him "Abba - Dad, Daddy, Papa - a revolutionary concept in his day. He painted a picture of God as "UNCONDITIONAL LOVE", whose open arms are always oustretched to welcome us with joy, understanding, healing, forgiveness, and new life. Come join us for a time apart as we seek to learn more through our shared journeys.

Friday evening - March 23rd - optional introduction/social at Mary Rae Shantz's home followed by the full day retreat at St. Mark's Presbyterian Church in Don Mills on the Saturday.

FRIDAY, APRIL 6th, 2012 - GOOD FRIDAY - Actor Kenneth Welsh will be "doing" the Gospel of Mark at Beaches Presbyterian Church at 8:00 pm. This is not to be missed. More details later.
